Before You Sign: Understanding Publisher Agreements
You have research to share, and your work has been accepted to a journal or other venue. Congratulations! At some point in this process, your publisher will present you with an agreement to sign. What is the purpose of a publishing agreement, and what exactly does it mean to sign it? In this workshop, we will examine agreements from different publishers and discuss factors to consider before signing. This workshop aims to equip authors to read agreements closely and critically and will be led by Copyright Librarian Amanda Wakaruk. Two workshops have been scheduled from 12-1:30pm. June 13 will focus on publishers in the social sciences and humanities and June 14 will focus on publishers in science and medicine.
